Toms river is working on getting the indoor schedule set and we should have the dates soon. February is booked with all the state Individual meets. the sectionals are the first weekend. the group meet is the second weekend. and the meet of champs is the trird weekend. The state relays are the weekend of the 17th. That leaves the rest of January to fit in the County Relays and the County Championships. the Shore conference will be running the division meets that they ran last year and the Shore Conference meet. We have been working with the Shore Conference and Toms River so it should all fit in.
OUTDOOR-09
Once we have the indoor set, we will be working on outdoor. the boys ocean frosh and soph is set at Barneget for Saturday May 2nd. We will be meeting to talk about the county meets. The main change this year will be trying to go to an almost cardless entry for our underclass meets. We had alot of runners not able to run due to no cards turned in or wrong card in the wrong pile. I think we can uliminate this. Most coaches know what athlete is in what event and the seed they are going to use. I think it is a wast of time for coaches to arive at a meet, try and get the team setup, get the athletes waming up, and then have to fill out all the cards. We have the timing system and we should use it to make things easier on us. As long as we have all the rosters, it would take the timing system a lot less time to enter all the athletes in there event then it would for the coaches to fill out cards. This is how it would work. Most coaches write down what athletes are running what events with the seeds they are using. The coach would fax or email that list to me atleast the night before the meet. the coach would get an email back with all the athletes with theire events and seed time from their teams only. For those coaches that do not do this before the meet, they can do it as they arive at the meet or fill out cards. These entries will not be posted as they are more like an unofficial entry. any mistakes or changes can be done before the meet. the athletes will still have to check in similar to the way they check in at the county meets. now, if an athlete showes up to check and they are not listed on the sheet. they fill out a card at the clerking area and are added to that event. the computer can check how many entries a team has and they would not be able to exceed the number they entered. This would also aloow a coach to add one athlete to an event if they had an extra entry. This may sound complicated but it is very easy and would allow an organized coach to have a list for them and their athletes to look over before they get off the bus and would elimiate the hand cramping card filling out marathon before the first call. We also worked on a way of making all the changes at the seeding meet so nothing is left out. Paul did it for the Shore conference seeding meeting so every one can see the changes on the screen.
elections
This year we need to have elections for the officers. We will be putting together an election committee. If you are interested in any position please let me know. The election committee will be put to gether at the fall meeting. the slate of interested people will be posted at the winter meeting and the vote will be at the spring meeting. |
